Nymph / Bull & Fish
Piakos (Sicily) - Litra

Description
Obverse: Head of nymph right, wearing ampyx, sphendone, spiral earring and plain necklace
Reverse: Bull butting right; in exergue, fish swimming right
A very rare coin bearing legends of two different cities—Piakos on the obverse and Adranon on the reverse. According to Jenkins, since no further coinage is known from Piakos, and Adranon was founded by Dionysios I of Syracuse around 400 BCE, the population of Piakos was likely resettled into Adranon. Nearly extremely fine with attractive toning.
