Larissa / Mare & Foal
Larissa (Thessaly) - Drachm
![Mare with foal standing right. [ΣΑΙΩΝ above / ΛΑΡΙ in exergue]](/assets/greek/56/reverse.webp)
Description
Obverse: Wreathed head of the nymph Larissa facing, turned slightly to the left, wearing ampyx, simple necklace, and triple-pendant earring.
Reverse: Mare with foal standing right. [ΣΑΙΩΝ above / ΛΑΡΙ in exergue]
In my opinion the obverse die of this Larissa is by far one of the best ones and perhaps even comparable to Kimon's facing head Arethusa. Definitely one of my most beautiful coins.
